A Factory and a Showroom at the Same Time: Why It Matters When You Buy

In most of this trade, the place where something is made and the place where you see it are not the same place — and often not even the same country. A catalogue is printed somewhere, a container is filled somewhere else, and the showroom is simply the last room in a long chain, with no way back up it. Neon Jungle Studios is built the other way round: the workshop and the showroom are the same address in Jdeideh, Metn. That is not a logistics detail. It changes what you can ask for, what you can check, and what happens when you change your mind.

What “both at once” actually looks like

Walk into the showroom facing St. John Greek Orthodox church and you are standing a few metres from where the pieces are made. On one side, finished work: olive trees at different heights, green wall samples, planters, neon, sculptural pieces. On the other, work in progress — preserved trunks waiting to be branched, frames half-built, foliage sorted by variety and tone.

The practical effect is that nothing you see has to be ordered as-is. A tree on the floor is not a fixed SKU; it is an example of a decision set. You can stand next to it, see that it is a little too wide for your corner, and have the canopy narrowed. You can like the trunk and want a different leaf. You can ask for the same tree sixty centimetres shorter because of a ceiling beam. None of that requires a new supplier, a new order cycle or a new catalogue — it requires a conversation with the people who will build it.

Why it matters for anything made to size

Most of our work is sized to a specific place. Ceiling heights in Lebanese apartments and older buildings are rarely standard. Restaurant corners have service routes through them. Stairwells are vertical volumes nobody measured for greenery. A custom artificial tree for one of those spaces is not a product you pick — it is a set of dimensions you agree, then build to.

When fabrication happens on site, those dimensions stay editable late. A branch that reads wrong in the room can be repositioned before the tree leaves. A green wall that meets a sloped ceiling can have its panels cut to the angle rather than butted awkwardly against it. If the same pieces had been ordered from a factory abroad, every one of those adjustments becomes a return, a re-order, or a compromise you live with for years.

Seeing materials before you commit

The second advantage is less obvious but matters more for quality. Photographs flatten everything. Foliage that looks convincing on a screen can read plastic in daylight; two greens that look identical online can clash when they are a metre apart on a real wall. Being able to hold the leaf, bend the branch and run a hand along a preserved trunk settles those questions in a minute, and settles them before anything is built.

It is also where expectations get honest. If you want an outdoor piece, you can see the difference between standard foliage and anti-UV foliage made for a terrace in full sun. If you are weighing a planter for a balcony, you can feel the weight difference between materials rather than guessing from a spec line. Nobody has to oversell anything, because the material is in your hand.

One team, from brief to installation

The same arrangement removes the usual gap between whoever sells a piece and whoever makes it. A measurement taken in your space is used by the people building the frame. A note about a difficult access route — a narrow stairwell, a lift that won’t take a two-metre canopy — reaches the workshop instead of becoming a surprise on installation day, and the piece can be built to go in in parts.

It also means accountability sits in one place. When something needs adjusting after install, there is no chain of suppliers to work back through. We built it, so we can change it. That is a large part of why the studio holds a 5.0 rating on Google, and it is the honest reason we talk about being a factory in Lebanon rather than a shop with a storeroom.

The approach has carried work from small apartment pieces up to commissions where precision mattered a great deal — including signage for Elie Saab’s headquarters and an olive tree for his apartment. The method does not change with the scale of the name on the brief; it changes with the room.

What to do with a visit

If you are considering a piece, bring three things: a photograph of the space taken from where people enter it, the ceiling height, and the width available at floor level. With those, a conversation in the showroom gets specific fast — you will leave knowing what is possible, roughly what size is right, and what the piece will be made of. Custom trees are typically built in around 20–25 working days, so the earlier a design is settled, the easier it is to meet an opening date or a handover.

FAQ

Can I visit without an appointment?

Yes. The showroom in Jdeideh, facing St. John Greek Orthodox church, is open to visitors. If you want someone to walk through a specific project with you, message ahead on WhatsApp so the right person is free.

Can I change a piece I have already seen in the showroom?

Usually, yes. Height, canopy width, foliage type, trunk choice and planter can all be specified, because the work is built here rather than ordered in. The practical limits are structural, and we will tell you where they are.

Do I have to come to Jdeideh to order?

No. Many projects are agreed from photographs and measurements, and we deliver and install anywhere in Lebanon. Visiting helps most when you are undecided about materials or scale.

Do you work from an architect’s drawings?

Yes. Plans, elevations and mood boards are all workable inputs, and quoting from drawings is routine.

Come and see the work

The quickest way to know whether a piece is right for your space is to stand next to one. Message us on WhatsApp with a photo of your space, or reach us through the contact page, and we will tell you plainly what we would build and why.
