Ten Ways to Use Greenery in a Small Beirut Apartment
Square metres are the thing you cannot buy more of in a Beirut apartment. Light you can work around, storage you can build, noise you learn to live with — but floor space is fixed, and every pot you put down takes some of it. That is the real reason greenery gets skipped in small flats, and the reason the usual advice (“add a few plants”) tends to end with three sad pots on a windowsill.
Artificial greenery changes the maths in two ways. It does not need light, so it can live in the dark corridor or the corner that faces a wall instead of a window. And because it is made rather than grown, it can be shaped to the space you actually have — narrow, tall, flat against a wall, hanging. Here are ten ways to use that, in rough order of how little floor they cost you.
Start with the walls, not the floor
1. A green wall panel above the sofa
The wall behind a sofa is usually doing nothing but holding a framed print. A panel of artificial green wall there gives you the whole visual effect of a garden at zero floor cost. In a small room, keep the panel tighter than you think — a defined rectangle reads as a design decision, while a wall covered corner to corner can make the room feel like it is closing in.
2. A narrow strip down the corridor
Entrance corridors in apartments are dark, blank and walked through ten times a day. A strip of greenery 40 or 50 centimetres wide running along one side changes the whole arrival into the flat, and you lose nothing: the corridor is still the same width, because the panel sits within the depth of a picture frame.

3. One slim tree in the awkward corner
Every flat has a corner where nothing fits — too narrow for a chair, too visible to leave empty. That is where a single artificial olive tree or a slim ficus earns its place. The trick is the canopy: a tree built with a tall clear trunk and the foliage starting high lets a side table or a floor lamp sit underneath it, so the corner does two jobs at once.
4. Behind the door swing
The wedge of floor a door sweeps over is dead space by definition. A tall, narrow planter with a compact tree lives there happily, out of the traffic line and visible from the rest of the room.

5. Railing greenery that survives the sun
A Beirut balcony gets hard sun, salt air and dust, which is why so many real balcony plants look exhausted by August. Foliage made with anti-UV treatment is built for exactly that exposure and holds its colour outdoors. Run it along the railing and the balcony gains a green edge without losing a centimetre of standing room.
6. A planter that screens the neighbours
If your balcony looks straight into someone else’s, a raised custom planter with dense foliage on top works better than any curtain. Sized to the balcony rather than bought off a shelf, it gives privacy at seated eye level while leaving the view above it open.

7. Suspended greenery over a table or island
The ceiling is the largest unused surface in any small home. Trailing greenery hung above a dining table or a kitchen island drops the visual ceiling height, makes the table feel like its own zone, and costs no floor at all.
8. The top of the wardrobes
The gap between the top of a tall cupboard and the ceiling collects dust and nothing else. Let foliage spill over the front edge and the cupboard stops reading as a slab.

9. A planter as a divider in an open plan
In a studio or an open living-dining space, a long planter is a much lighter way to separate sleeping from living than a shelf unit or a partition. It divides the space without blocking light, and it can be moved.
10. Greenery with light
Foliage and a light source are a natural pair: a small warm neon line behind a green panel, or a spot aimed down through a canopy, turns a flat wall into the thing people notice when they walk in. Foliage alone is a texture; foliage with a light on it is a feature. One note on scale
The most common mistake in a small flat is not going too big — it is going too small. Five scattered pots read as clutter; one well-placed tree reads as intention, and leaves the rest of the room calm. Before ordering anything tall, measure from the floor to the ceiling and keep a clear gap at the top, so the canopy has room to breathe instead of pressing against the slab. Common questions
Will artificial greenery look fake in a small room where people stand close?
Distance is exactly why the build matters in a small flat. Trees made on preserved natural trunks have real bark, with real splits and knots, so the part of the tree within arm’s reach is genuine. Foliage density does the rest — thin, evenly spaced leaves are what give a cheap tree away.
Can I put greenery on a balcony with no shade at all?
Yes, if it is specified for outdoors. Anti-UV foliage is made to hold colour under direct sun; ordinary indoor foliage moved outside is what fades.
How long does a custom piece take?
A custom tree is generally around 20 to 25 working days from approval. Green wall panels and planters depend on size and finish, and we confirm the timing when we quote.
Can you install it, or do I have to?
We deliver and install across Lebanon, including wall-mounted panels and suspended pieces, which are the two that are worth letting someone else drill.
