A Bird of Paradise at 200 cm. Broad paddle leaves on tall upright stems, with the distinctive orange and blue flower heads that give the plant its name.

At this height it anchors a hotel lobby, a restaurant corner or a double-height living room. The flowers are the reason to choose this species artificial rather than live: indoors, a real strelitzia may take many years to bloom, if it ever does. Dust the large leaves with a soft cloth.
