Banana Plant

A Banana Plant, with the wide paddle leaves and heavy central ribs that give it an immediately tropical presence. Few plants cover as much visual area for their footprint, since almost all the mass is in a handful of very large leaves.

It suits resort and restaurant interiors, pool areas and any room that wants to feel warmer than it is. Live banana leaves split and brown within weeks indoors, which is exactly what this version avoids. Dust the leaves with a soft cloth; the large flat surfaces make it quick.
