What goes into a 3D sign

Alucobond is what most shopfront and building-entrance signage is built from. It is an aluminium composite — a solid, flat face that holds a clean edge, takes paint well and stands up to sun and coastal air. It is the right choice when the sign has to look sharp from across a street and survive years outdoors.

Acrylic is used where light has to pass through. Backlit and channel letters are acrylic-faced so the LED sits behind the surface and the letter glows evenly rather than showing hot spots. It cuts to fine detail, which matters for logos with thin strokes or small type.

PVC is lighter and less expensive, and suits interior signage — reception walls, office logos, directional pieces — where weather is not a factor and the sign is read from a few metres rather than across a car park.

Which one is right depends on where the sign lives, how far away it is read from, and whether it needs to light up. Send us the logo and the location and we will tell you which we would use and why.

Lit or unlit

Not every sign needs power. A flat-cut Alucobond or PVC logo reads perfectly well on an interior wall in daylight, and costs less to make and install.

Illumination earns its place when the sign has to work after dark or compete with other signage on a busy street. Backlit letters throw a halo onto the wall behind them and read as considered rather than loud. Channel letters light from the face and are the more direct, higher-visibility option. For a shopfront in Lebanon, where evening trade matters, lit signage usually pays for itself in being seen at all.

What size can a 3D sign be?

There is no fixed limit. We have made everything from a single interior logo to full storefront signage. The practical constraints are the wall, the access for installation and the local permissions, not our workshop.
